Occupational English Test (OET)
An English language competency test designed and administered by the Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment, Australia which is approved by several different nation’s healthcare agencies including Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Dubai, Ireland, Namibia, and Singapore. The test assesses the English language skills of the candidate in writing, reading speaking and listening modules.
Majority of the healthcare agencies demand grade B as the required score, which is equivalent to score 7-7.5 on the IELTS test. It is a test to assess the language skills for 12 different healthcare professionals: Dentistry, Dietetics, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Radiography, Speech Pathology and VLOeterinary Science.
While the test assesses English language skills of healthcare professionals in their day to day practice, being prepared adequately before undergoing the test can definitely improve the probability of passing the test in first time.
